CLASSIC TIRAMISU

The classic Italian dessert

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings (optional)

  • 1. In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy
  • 2. Add mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth
  • 3. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the mascarpone mixture
  • 4. Combine coffee and liqueur in a shallow dish
  • 5. Dip ladyfingers briefly into the coffee mixture and arrange a layer in a dish
  • 6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers
  • 7. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture
  • 8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight)
  • 9. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings (optional)
